General Practitioners

  • Dr Fiona Loan graduated from Otago Medical School in 2009 and worked as a Surgical Registrar over 5 years across a number of surgical specialities, in Christchurch and Dunedin Hospitals, namely Plastics and ENT, before completing her GP Fellowship training in 2017. She has worked at Mahoe Med since 2014 and specialises in Skin Cancer Medicine and Surgery providing a Skin Clinic with full skin checks, skin lesion checks, dermatology conditions and surgical excisions. She has a young family and enjoys keeping fit, outdoor adventures and family time.

  • Dr Tribe practiced in his Melbourne GP for 28 years and delivered 500 babies, he was also Medical Officer of Health for a time. He has practiced in NZ for 17 years, the last 10 years at Mahoe. He is continually amazed at God’s creation of the human body and helping individuals reach their full potential in mind, body and spiritual health.

  • Dr Phillips is a very experienced GP. He is a graduate of the Auckland School of Medicine and had significant responsibilities during his time at Waikato Hospital. He has a wide knowledge of medical and ancillary services available in the Waikato and enjoys good relationships with Specialists. He works hard to ensure that the patients he sees obtain the services and care that they need. He finds the work he does as a grade 1 Medical Examiner for the CAA to be very stimulating.

  • Dr Olive Ngan graduated from the University of Auckland and went on to complete a Post-graduate Diploma in Paediatrics. In addition to practicing family medicine and urgent care at Mahoe Med, Olive also looks after student health at a local Wharekura. She has a special interest in child and adolescent health, women’s health, and pharmacological management of obesity.

  • Kia ora, I am originally from Whangarei and moved to Waikato recently. I completed most of my clinical training at Whangarei Base hospital and one year of working at Waikato Base Hospital. I am currently a GP training Registrar and recently started at Mahoe this year. I have particular interest in children’s health after completing a post-graduate diploma in Child Health in 2020.

  • Dr Simeon Intal finished his medical education in the Philippines. He then went to England and worked at Southampton General Hospital for 4 years, before migrating to NZ in 2010. He did his training on Rural Hospital Medicine and General Practice here in NZ and is currently working at Mahoe Med Ltd. He has special interest in Emergency/Urgent Care and Minor Surgeries.

  • Dr Jessica Hiess graduated medicine from Auckland University and worked at Waikato Hospital where she completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Gynaecology and Obstetrics from Auckland University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Child’s Health from Otago University prior to entering General Practice. Alongside her work at Mahoe she has a clinic at Te Awamutu College to support adolescent health and wellbeing, and has recently completed her MEDSAC accreditation. Her specialist interests are paediatrics, adolescent health, women’s health and sexual health, including long acting contraception (Jadelles and IUDs). In her spare time Jess enjoys crafting, especially quilting and crochet, and spending time in her garden with her cat, Moo.

  • Matt was born in NZ, he graduated from Auckland University in 2014. He worked in Waikato Hospital for 3 years, and completed a paediatrics diploma. He trained and worked as a GP initially in Te Aroha, then Hamilton (Te Kohao Health), before coming to work at Mahoe Med. He enjoys the large range of aspects covered in General Practice and the opportunity to help people stay well throughout their life. His interests are spending time with his wife and two boys, music, and most recently, disc-golf.

  • Shyam did his training in Dunedin, has worked at Waikato Hospital before entering General Practice in 2018. In 2022, he completed his GP fellowship in Te Awamutu. Shyam enjoys all areas of General Practice but has a particular interest in paediatrics.

  • Kia Ora, my name is Stephen Taharua Wall. I have been working in General Practice and Urgent care for the last 6 years. I was born and raised in Hamilton but also have strong links to Kawhia where my whanau and iwi reside. I am currently at Mahoe Medical part time. My special interests include sports medicine and musculoskeletal problems. I am currently completing my post-graduate diploma in Sport and Exercise Medicine through the University of Otago. I also have interests in Maori health, public health and chronic care.

  • I am originally from Ashburton in the South Island. I completed a Biomedical Science Degree at Otago University before going on to study Medicine. I worked as a General Medical Registrar for 4 years before entering GP training at the end of 2019. I have a special interest in General medicine, long term conditions and palliative care. Outside of work I like to spend time outdoors with my dog Wally and have recently got back into masters rowing with the Te Awamutu Club.

  • Mark is from the United States but has Maori roots on his mother’s side to New Zealand. He met his wife, a Maori girl from Porirua, in America and they moved to New Zealand in 2012. He has three children and loves golf, guitar and singing. He trained at the University of Auckland and has interests in Mental Health.
